GEORGIA SUMMARY OF EXISTING LAW

Insurer shall pay for services rendered within 30 working days upon receipt of a clean written claim or 15 working days upon receipt of a clean electronic claim. If claim is denied, insurer must provide a reason for denying the claim and what, if any, additional information is required within the same period mentioned above.

PRACTICAL NOTE FOR EXISTING LAW

The time period to pay claims is shorter in Georgia than the average time in other states. While PBMs are not specifically mentioned, they are likely included in the broad definition of applicable entities.
